Event Summary & Thanks

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer concert. Afterwards, our conductor John Gull shared these words with the orchestra: “Please do pass on my hearty thanks and congratulations to Rosemary and the orchestra for their sparkling performance on Saturday. I really felt the music come alive in front of the audience and I reckon we should all be very proud of ourselves! Bravo indeed!”

Rosemary Robinson wowed both the orchestra and the audience, performing the Mozart entirely from memory, and thoroughly enjoyed playing again for the Rococo Players. She thanked us for the beautiful card and flowers, adding: “It is always a great pleasure to perform with Rococo: please pass on my thanks to John and the orchestra.”

We were also delighted to welcome Lisa Donnison, one of our regular flautists who stepped down last term and has since been made an honorary member in recognition of her contribution to the orchestra. Watching us perform from the other side of the stage for the first time, she said: “I wanted to say how much I enjoyed the concert. The orchestra have gone from strength to strength and they made a wonderful sound. I very much appreciated being an honorary member.”

Marion Pogson, who has been a member of the orchestra for over 40 years and has contributed so positively throughout that time, has decided to step back from playing — a great loss to us all. Like Lisa, she is now an honorary member and came along to enjoy the concert from the audience, where she was extremely complimentary. We will miss her greatly and look forward to seeing her at future concerts.

Looking ahead, our next concert is on Saturday 14th November 2026 at Rugby High School, when we will be joined by conductor Ben Kingston and soloist Wendy Boswell.
