Conductor: Ben Kingston
Leader: Angela Donnelly
By the River, from the Florida Suite
Composed by Frederick Delius

A serene, sun-warmed movement from Delius's early Florida Suite, evoking the gentle drift of a river through the American South with lush, impressionistic harmonies and a warm, song-like lyricism.

Meet Our Conductor

Ben Kingston
Ben currently works as an Assistant Head of Mathematics at a secondary school in Nuneaton. However, music has always been a large part of his life and during his studies at university, he took up the positions as Conductor of the University of Leicester Concert Band - a role which he held for four-and-a-half years, and Co-Conductor of the university orchestra. He saw both groups go from strength to strength, which culminated in Ben directing a performance of extracts from Holst's The Planets Suite alongside members of the Philharmonia Orchestra at De Montfort Hall.
Ben grew up in Northamptonshire and is a product of the Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust, playing bassoon in both the County Youth Orchestra and County Youth Concert Band. He has played at prestigious venues across the UK including Symphony Hall Birmingham and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as on tours to Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Belgium.
Previously, Ben has been fortunate enough to receive tuition with Toby Purser, Denise Ham and Robin O'Neill, and has conducted a variety of chamber orchestras and concert bands across the Midlands. He is delighted that Rococo have temporarily relinquished his duties as second bassoonist in order to conduct them for a fourth term, and he wishes to thank both the players and the committee for their continuous hard work.
Meet Our Soloists

She has been Tenor Sax player with the Bardi Wind Orchestra for over twenty years, plays Soprano and Alto sax in Phoenix Sax Orchestra, and performs mixed reed parts in opera, operetta and musical theatre productions across the Midlands.
